Renovation, Upgrading, Integration
Nexter Group will present a wide range of products and services during IDEX 2021 in Abu Dhabi, and will focus a deal of attention on the LECLERC main battle tank, which it has supported the UAE armed forces in, for maintenance and technical support, for over 20 years, the company stated on 19 February.
Nexter seeks to strengthen its long-term relationship with the UAE’s armed forces, and renovation of the LECLERC – just at the moment the French army is launching its own programme to ensure the vehicle’s longevity – is high on the company’s agenda. The opportunity to establish joint ventures to pursue local and regional opportunities will also undoubtedly feature in discussions this week.
Also on prominent display will be an extended mission variant of the TITUS 6×6, integrating a Nexter ARX25 turret. Featuring excellent mobility and an exceptional turning radius, TITUS performance can be augmented with the use of NERVA and IXOS-LG robots, thus expanding its ISR capabilities.
A CAESAR 155mm 6×6 from the 5th Cuirassiers, based in Abu Dhabi, will focus visitor attention on the upsurge in interest in truck-mounted artillery, with Denmark and Morocco both having selected the Nexter solution to reinvigorate their fire support capabilities recently.
Robotics, a very comprehensive range of ammunition and a wide spectrum of support services will round out Nexter’s presence at IDEX. In particular, the group will be showcasing some of its medium-calibre weapons: RAPIDFire, recently ordered for the French Navy, features the 40 CTA gun that arms new generations of armoured vehicles in France (JAGUAR), Great Britain (AJAX WARRIOR) and Belgium (CaMo). Conventional ammunition and the A3B [Anti-Aerial AirBurst] smart munition give it ground-to-air and ground-to-ground capabilities to the weapon, which can also be integrated on the TITUS. Finally, the 30mm cannon that equips the TIGER helicopter and the P20 mount for special forces 4×4 vehicles will be on the stand.
