IDEX 2017: Will-Burt is Showcasing STILETTO AL

Electro-mechanical alloy telescopic mast The Will-Burt Company, with its subsidiaries GEROH and ITS are presenting the STILETTO AL, an electro-mechanical alloy telescopic mast, which, according to the company, delivers unparalleled pointing accuracy. STILETTO AL delivers an extremely stable and compact elevation platform for sensors and antennas that require a high degree of pointing accuracy. This high strength alloy electro-mechanical telescoping mast with patent pending automatic locks does not require guying and safely deploys payloads at any height. It is designed as a cost-effective elevation platform, meeting today’s stringent programme requirements

All internal tests are fulfilled and the MILSTD-certification process begun. That should be done by the 2.Q/2017. But already the first series models are delivered to the customers. Although the mast itself is made from aluminium and it is lightweight, it can carry huge payloads, up to 160+ kilogrammes. That is enough to carry even bigger sensors like radars or reconnaissance packages. STILETTO AL offers a minimal mast twist, and it need no guying, it is a self-supporting mast. The direct-drive system is powered by a sealed 600 watt DC engine, that allows a quiet operation. The mast height can be customized, but normally it is available in 4, 6, 10 and 15 metres. The bigger 15m mast has a nested height of only 2.65m and can carry a rated payload capacity of 158 kg. It can be used up to a wind speed of 83km/h and it is extended in less than 150 seconds.

Will-Burt just bought another company in the UK to enlarge the portfolio. With PositionIt by Will-Burt – now a one-stop shop also offers heavy-duty pan and tilt positioners. The maintenance-free pan and tilt positioned is designed to provide years of trouble-free service, and it is IP68 rated against dust and water. The gear box is designed to minimise backlash and provides higher gear ratios for lower speeds along with mechanical braking. At the moment there are two models available: PI-150 and PI-75.

PI-150 offers a payload capacity of 150 ft lb and has a weight of 16.8 kilogrammes. The smaller IP-75 can carry a payload of 75 ft lb and weights 16 kilogrammes.
