Tried-and-tested robotic multipurpose vehicle platform
At IDEX 2017 on stand #09-A10, Rheinmetall is presenting its Multi-Mission Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) System for the first time ever, a wheeled solution designed for maximum versatility.
Unmanned systems can operate autonomously, semi-autonomously or in remote control mode. They relieve the pressure on human beings, and are particularly useful in hazardous, high-risk situations. Moreover, when fitted with different equipment kits and subsystems, they can perform in a wide variety of different roles. Examples here include tactical surveillance, CBRN detection, transport operations, casualty evacuation and deployment as a mobile radio relay stations or effector platform.
The Rheinmetall approach to a Multi-Mission UGV System envisages the use of three basic components: A tried-and-tested robotic multipurpose vehicle platform, into which a subsystem or system of subsystems is integrated in accordance with user requirements, and finally a command centre, where operations can be planned, controlled, analysed and evaluated.
As an example of its approach to system design, at IDEX 2017 Rheinmetall is presenting a Multi-Mission UGV platform, teamed with the Sensor Command and Control Planning Suite (SC2PS), the Düsseldorf-based group’s operationally proven command support tool.
