IDEX 2017: Raytheon to Showcase Innovation and Advanced Capabilities for the Gulf Region

Company to highlight 30 years of partnership with UAE Raytheon features its advanced capabilities in air and missile defence, border security, and land and naval systems among a wide range of innovative solutions for Gulf region customers attending IDEX 2017, including: PATRIOT AESA 360, C5ITM Mission Solutions, National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System and Advanced Medium Range, Air-to-Air Missile Extended Range, Evolved SEASPARROW Missile, Rolling Airframe Missile, TALON Laser Guided Rocket, Digital fire control solutions, Integrated border security, and Tank systems modernisation.

While at IDEX, Raytheon also highlights three decades of partnership with the United Arab Emirates (UAE). “Over the last 30 years, Raytheon and the UAE have built a close and enduring relationship supporting the Emirates’ civil defence infrastructure, security, local manufacturing and training on a number of strategic fronts,” Chris Davis, President of Raytheon International in the UAE, said.

Raytheon’s partnerships in the UAE help meet the Emirates’ national security requirements and safeguard its people. Key local industry partners include: Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), NIMR Automotive, Emirates Defense Industries Company, and Tawazun.

Over the years, Raytheon has expanded its UAE customers from one to nine, and have diversified our partnerships in line with the country’s economic aspirations and development roadmaps, such as the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030,” Davis added.

Raytheon has also expanded its offerings in the Emirates and the Gulf region to include cybersecurity technology and support – an imperative focus highlighted at the 2015 UAE Security Forum sponsored by the company in partnership with the Arab Gulf States Institute and the UAE’s National Electronic Security Authority. That same year, Raytheon launched its Cyber Academy program in the UAE, conducting cyber skills workshops for Emirati students at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi.

As part of its commitment to supporting the country’s growing knowledge economy, Raytheon launched its MathAlive! Gulf region tour in the UAE in 2013, and it is still underway today. The exhibit Emirates debut comprised of three stops (Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah) made possible by partnering with five local educational and cultural institutions (Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee, Higher Colleges of Technology, Sharjah Science Museum, Khalifa University and RAK Colleges).

The MathAlive! interactive exhibit is culturally customized for the region and demonstrates the relationship between STEM and the life activities that children enjoy. Currently in Oman, MathAlive! has made 10 stops in four Gulf countries (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar) and has been experienced by approximately 300,000 visitors. In recognition of Raytheon’s 30th anniversary in the Emirates, and in this their Year of Giving, planning is underway for MathAlive!’s return to the UAE in the fall of 2017 with a Dubai debut; further details to be announced later.
