IDEF 2017: MKU Showcases INSTAVEST-G6

Combining the joint forces of time and safety

Ensuring complete safety of the soldier, the engineers at MKU have introduced INSTAVEST-G6 ballistic body armour vest that features a patented Quick Release (QR) System2. The unique and patented QR system in INSTAVEST-G6 enables the body armour vest to be stripped from the soldier’s body in a second with one single action during emergency situations.

Being able to doff the INSTAVEST-G6 body armour in a second instead of a minute when compared to other conventional body armour vests, a soldier can save a lot of crucial time when faced with emergency situations. In case of an injured soldier, those assisting him with treatment can easily and quickly remove his INSTAVEST-G6 body armour without losing any crucial time.

The quick release function of the INSTAVEST-G6 is so designed that the vest can be put back on quickly, without any reassembly or additional training. Thus, giving the combatants ability to pass through obstacles where they have to remove and put on their body armour again, without compromising their safety. The QR mechanism is covertly placed at the bottom of the vest to prevent accidental release.

Leveraging MKU’s 6th Generation ultra-lightweight armouring technology that uses strong composite materials, the soft-armour Instavest-G6 offers ballistic protection from handgun ammunition. However, with hard-armour inserts, the ballistic protection can be enhanced to NIJ Level-III protection. INSTAVEST-G6 weighs less than 5kg, and is over 40% lighter, 30% thinner and 50% more flexible than most conventional vests, according to the company, thus giving soldiers the ability to carry extra ammunition, batteries, rations or other mission critical equipment without increasing his burden or related stress.

It also allows better speed, agility, endurance and manoeuvrability. When it comes to body armour solutions, it is not just safety but also the time it takes to action the armour that becomes crucially important. After all, what is more important than our soldiers’ safety and security, for whom every second counts.

The products are on display at booth #225 in Hall number 2 at IDEF 2017.
