Holistic Approach to AI-enabled Capabilities
At IAV 2022 in London (24-27 January), Rafael will highlight its full suite of capabilities for armoured vehicles, including systems that enhance tactical effectiveness and survivability, help reduce crew size and manage their cognitive burden.
The Advanced Vehicle Integrated Combat Systems (A-VICS) is a modular system adaptable to any platform, connected to its sensor and other systems. It provides a full video management system, 360° situational awareness and automatic target recognition (ATR), allowing operators to conduct all operational tasks in a ‘closed down’ mode. Its open, modular architecture offers optimal protection and precision, integrating some of Rafael’s most highly-regarded operational systems, including:
- The TROPHY Active Protection System (APS) – detects, classifies, and engages incoming threats and delivers survivability and manoeuvrability for all vehicle classes. TROPHY is central to A-VICS’ advanced protective capabilities.;
- The SPIKE family of 5th-generation, multi-purpose, multi-platform EO-guided missile systems, providing pinpoint precision up to 32km and fire-and-update capabilities. SPIKE’s high precision enhances vehicle survivability, and minimises the risk of collateral damage;
- The SAMSON Family of high-performance remote-control weapon stations (RWS) for combat vehicles delivers high performance and maximises survivability. With 40-years of operational experience, Rafael’s RWS have been adapted worldwide to a broad range of tracked and wheeled armored vehicles, and accommodate diverse weapons and sensors;
- The HYPERCORE AI-based combat vehicle management system integrates the best-of-breed technologies and capabilities that make up the A-VICS. It ensures faster, smarter decision-making, greater efficiency and effectiveness across complex missions, and reduces required crew numbers and eases their cognitive burden in the battlespace. It enables manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) in both conventional and asymmetric scenarios. HYPERCORE’s combat AI acts as an additional crew member for more autonomous mission management, providing 360° situational awareness by managing the vehicle’s array of sensors and fusing each of the video feeds into a single, live, augmented battlefield picture with a common visual language. It also uses ATR to detect, recognise, and track multiple target types;
- FIRE WEAVER is a networked sensor-to-shooter combat system with sophisticated autonomous capabilities, connecting an armoured formation’s component vehicles and their operational capabilities in real time over any tactical radio. It uses AI and data fusion to instantly select the most relevant shooter for a given target, and, as a result, can handle multiple, simultaneous targets more efficiently and swiftly.
