New AESA Solutions for OPV-sized Platforms

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has unveiled the STAR-X 3D multi-mission naval radar, designed for OPVs and other small vessels.

Based on IAI ELTA’s AESA technology, the STAR-X 3D offers simultaneous air and surface surveillance, and is designed for critical missions in and beyond EEZ areas of interest. In an era of an increasingly diverse spectrum of airborne threats and challenges to maritime security and sovereignty, naval vessels need to be equipped with 3D surveillance capabilities as part of modern naval air and missile defence capabilities.

The newest member of IAI’s widely-fielded naval radar family, the STAR-X is a fully digital, 3D, high-performance AESA radar that exhibits reduced overall dimensions and lower weight and power requirements, providing a very cost-effective solution. It features robust, modular construction and a fully digital software-driven architecture, delivering low life-cycle costs and a cost-effective ability to implement future upgrades, primarily via software updates.
