Nine Vehicles Initially With Option for 21 More
Israel Aerospace Industries’ (IAI) ELTA Group is to supply nine Z-MAG all-terrain vehicles (ATV) to the Israeli Defence Force (IDF), with an option for the supply of 21 further vehicles, the company announced on 22 April.
IAI has recently acquired the rights to the Z family of off-road vehicles, and the Z-MAG – a unique ATV – has excited great interest in the off-road and specialised applications community. Featuring exceptional manoeuvre capabilities in the harshest of environments, the first batch to be delivered will be configured specifically for the requirements of the IDF’s manoeuvre units. Following a period of evaluation and assessment, procurement of additional vehicles will be considered.
IAI is investing ILS 100 million (€25.5 million) in establishing a purpose-built production line for Z-MAG at ELTA’s Land Division in Be’er Sheba.
“ELTA develops and produces a broad range of products for land purposes, including: surveillance, autonomous robotics, remote sensing, and communication. By integrating these capabilities in the Z vehicle family, our products provide added value to the forces’ operational possibilities, be it in defense, assault or homeland security intelligence gathering,” stated ELTA CEO, Yoav Turgeman.
