I/ITSEC 2019: IAI Supplies Advanced Debriefing System to IAF

Data from Israeli and Italian F-35s Processed for First Time

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has supplied the Israeli Air Force (IAF) with an innovative drill debriefing system, which performs debriefing in record time. The system has been upgraded for the Blue Flag Exercise held in Israel in November with air forces from the USA, Greece, Germany, Italy and Israel. In this year’s exercise, the debriefing system processed data from Israeli and Italian F-35 aircraft for the first time, including real-time images of moving targets and air defence launches from a range of systems.

Developed by IAI’s MALAM division based on the EHUD ACMI system, the debriefing system is unique in its ability to integrate data from a range of training systems operated by different air forces. Optimized and characterized according to the IAF special requirements and the Blue Flag 2019 exercise, the system allows joint training and debriefing of all participating pilots. The debriefing yields a unified air combat view of all participating aircraft and air threats based on the scenarios practiced, which are fed into the system’s database to enable full documentation for future insights and learning.

In addition to using the debriefing system, IAI provided on-demand air practice services and leased an EHUD ACMI system for use in the combat aircraft of the various nations. IAI training experts supported implementation of the system.

Jacob Galifat, General Manager of the MALAM Division, commented “This is the first time we integrate F-35 aircraft data with moving targets in the debriefing system, which has been developed and upgraded for the exercise held in Israel. The air training services provided by IAI to multinational drills allow our clients to gain the most from each drill, let alone one of this scope. These capabilities further allow nations that lack the training systems to participate fully in complex exercises and large-scale training. This is another step in the evolution of our long-standing EHUD system, which is broadly deployed in air forces across the globe“.

Over 1,000 EHUD air training pods have been supplied to date across the world, as well as hundreds of debriefing systems to numerous satisfied customers.
