RUAG Details Simulation and Training Growth at I/ITSEC 2016

France, the UK, Germany, and Poland as key market

At I/ITSEC 2016, RUAG Defence are showcasing their solutions in full force. At their booth, visitors can see the RUAG SITTAL mall arms trainer, the OSPREY constructive Command and Staff Trainer (with MASA Group’s SWORD as its core), and the C-IED training system, which the company has recently sold to the German Army for its GÜZ training centre (all of which have been featured on this very news-site in the last few days).

We are going to get stronger in the simulation and training market, being one of the major three players in the field,” Lutz Kampmann, RUAG Senior Vice President Marketing & Sales, said, seeing growth in France, the UK, Germany, and Poland (in order of importance).

Earlier this year, RUAG Defence and MASA Group have agreed to a closer strategic partnership by signing a teaming agreement at ITEC 2016 in London. In a typical project, RUAG’s main task is to integrate SWORD into other simulations and systems, adapt its off-the-shelf content to customer requirements as well as provide system maintenance and support. RUAG already has several years of integration and adaptation experience with SWORD and has highly developed proof of concept integrations with a variety of different systems. RUAG Defence’s significant experience and position as an international, independent and product-neutral systems integrator, makes it the perfect partner for MASA, and together they will be able to deliver complete training environments to land forces.

Also earlier this week, after a competitive bidding process, RUAG Defence has received a contract from the Federal Office for Defence Procurement (armasuisse) to continue operating the combat training centres in Switzerland for the next five years. The contract includes management, operation of the centres’ system platforms, technical service, logistics, infrastructure & property.

In other live training news, RUAG unveiled that the GLADIATOR Live Training System is now produced in France, having committed to the French procurement agency DGA to share technology, as well as opening up extra production lines for future business.

Kampmann concluded by stating that the company is currently in discussions for supplying a live training platform early next year.
