Two New STP-NG Gunnery Simulators for French Army
Thales has delivered two new STP-NG platoon-level gunnery simulators for the AMX-10 RCR combat vehicle to the French Army. Both have now entered service in Canjuers and Saumur.
A thoroughly contemporary simulator, the STP-NG offers a high degree of realism for effective mission rehearsal and preparation and simulates the Terminal Information System (SIT) to enrich training experience with operational-level communications. It can be used in a stand-alone mode or for collective training of up to 15 users. Three terrain databases were supplied, ranging from urban environments to desert.
The STP-NG comprises three upgraded instructor stations, three simplified modules for vehicle commander, gunner and driver positions, three administrator stations for managing a light armoured vehicle and three stations assigned for engineers, infantry and artillery respectively. It also includes a platoon leader station, which will be equipped with a Regimental Information System (SIR) in early 2017 to simulate the next level of command for squadron-level collective training exercises.
