Meggitt Training Systems highlights small-arms Program of Record, foreign sales, and simulated weapons
Meggitt Training Systems’ Engagement Skills Trainer (EST) II is a Program of Record for the US Army. The system’s 3D marksmanship, automatic coaching, tablet interface, enhanced graphics and compatibility with existing simulated weapons make it one of the world’s most innovative small-arms trainer.
FATS 100e is a major expansion in weapons training capability, with key features leveraged from EST II, including 3D marksmanship, automatic coaching and VBS3-based collective training.
On booth #1313, Meggitt Training Systems emphasises initial deliveries of EST II, foreign military sales of the system, the FATS 100e virtual training system with integrated mortar simulator, plus a range of BlueFire wireless and tethered weapons.
“Meggitt Training Systems continues to innovate, delivering state-of the-art virtual and live-fire solutions to our global customer base,” Jeff Murphy, President, Meggitt Training Systems, said. “We are particularly proud of our success with EST II, which is generating significant interest from foreign military delegations with similar training requirements.”
Meggitt solutions on display will include:
- EST II: As the certified Program of Record for the US Army, the EST II represents one of the world’s most innovative small-arms trainers thanks to 3D marksmanship, automatic coaching, a tablet interface, enhanced graphics and compatibility with existing simulated weapons. Meggitt Training Systems was originally awarded the $99 million, five-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract in 2014. Worldwide deliveries of more than 900 EST II systems started this August and will be complete by April 2018.
- FATS 100e virtual training system: A major expansion in weapons training capability, key features leveraged from EST II include 3D marksmanship, automatic coaching and VBS3-based collective training – with additional Joint Fires capabilities demonstrated at I/ITSEC. The 3D marksmanship provides visually realistic and highly detailed terrains and targets, and automatic coaching – a feature never before available in the small-arms training market. VBS3-based collective training supports Meggitt’s BlueFire weapon simulators and their full line of mortar simulators and Joint Fires training.
- BlueFire wireless weapon simulators: These provide a high level of virtual realism while maintaining the same form, fit and function of live weapon counterparts. BlueFire weapons are excellent choices for collective and judgmental training, operating via wireless Bluetooth technology without cords or tethered operations hindering actions. Weapon simulators available for demonstration at I/ITSEC include the BlueFire SA80, M4, Beretta M9, Glock 17, Sig 226, M27 IAR, MSGL, G36, and tethered M240. An 81mm mortar simulator is interactive with the FATS 100e to demonstrate mortar crew and collective training.
