NORTHSTAR Immersive Display for T-6C
On the first day of I/ITSEC 2016 in Orlando on 28 November, 3D perception announced it has been awarded a contract to deliver an immersive visual display system for Lockheed Martin in support of the UK’s Military Flying Training system (MFTS) fixed wing programme. The display, using the company’s NORTHSTAR solution, will support a Beechcraft T-6C flight training device and will be delivered ready for training to RAF Valley in Wales in 2018.
The simulator will feature a 270×120° field of view dome screen within a 20x20ft footprint. Projectors are auto aligned, blended and colour calibrated via the NORTHSTAR sensors, expediting and simplifying maintenance, and provided a completely seamless image and an extremely high resolution pilot view.
The NORTHSTAR solution combines an advanced rack-mount multi-projector display processor (nBox,) with 3D Certified Projectors and image auto-alignment technologies – either an AURORA sensor-instrumented smart screen or a StarScan screen-independent, precision 3D scanner and imager. NORTHSTAR is image generator agnostic and requires no specific modification or alteration to the user’s IG.
