Leverages Development of THEMIS Lightweight Armour
Hobson Industries and Rospardo MCT have created a joint venture to bring an advanced lightweight armour system in house, the companies announced on 5 January.
The partnership intends to develop into a rapid prototyping and manufacturing enterprise for protected systems along the lines of the successful THEMIS lightweight armour system. Early examples of the system as fitted to Land Rover Defenders are already in service with a British government agency. The system meets the requirements of STANAG 4569, PAS300 and PAS301.
Hobson has a wealth of experience in developing customised variants of existing vehicles for military and security applications. Rospardo has over 70 years of collective design, manufacture and test experience on composite armour systems, coupled with previous experience with Hobsons to develop THEMIS.
