The company has equipped US Coast Guard’s “Legend” class National Security Cutter (NSC) with 12 TRS-3D so far
The US Coast Guard has awarded HENSOLDT a €9.4 million ($10 million) contract to provide its training centre (TRACEN) in Petaluma, California, with the latest ‘Baseline D’ version of the company’s proven TRS-3D multi-mode naval radar.
HENSOLDT is already equipping the US Coast Guard’s “Legend” class National Security Cutter (NSC) with its TRS-3D radar. So far, the company has delivered 12 radars to the US Coast Guard’s NSC program.
TRS-3D is a three-dimensional, multi-mode naval radar for air and surface surveillance, target acquisition, self-defence, gunfire support and aircraft control. It automatically detects and tracks all air and sea targets, alleviating crew workload requirements.
The latest version, TRS-3D Baseline D – with the US designation AN/SPS-75 – utilises gallium nitride (GaN) and solid-state emitter technology to deliver traditional TRS-3D performance while improving reliability and options for future development.
HENSOLDT CEO Thomas Müller commented: “With more than 50 radars in service with Coast Guards and Navies worldwide, our TRS-3D naval radar has proven itself. We are making sure that our customers capitalise on continuous technology enhancements.”
HENSOLDT has decades of experience in radars. In addition to naval and ground-based air defence radars, the company’s portfolio also includes fighter radars, ground surveillance, and space radars.
