Hensoldt presents new night vision attachments for handheld weapons at SHOT Show 2017

The new optic devices’ compact form and moderate weight go hand in hand with significantly greater performance
Las Vegas, NV, USA, January 17th, 2017 –
The Optronics product line of Airbus DS Electronics and Border Security, which will be called HENSOLDT soon (which is already called that in the US), is presenting its updated and improved nightvision portfolio for handheld weapons at booth #13913. These include the new I2-attachment NSV LL as well as its new thermal imager attachments IRV 600 A1 and IRV 900 A1.

The optical design of the Hensoldt residual light amplifier NSV LL (low light) enables the user to identify targets from a distance significantly in excess of 1,000m, depending on target characteristics and ambient brightness. The optic device can generally be employed on all handheld weapons used by armed forces and law enforcement authorities.

The night vision attachment can be used immediately to amplify any residual light. A CR123 lithium battery provides an operating life of more than 40 hours, depending on the image intensifier tube used. Particularly optimised for very low light conditions, the night vision attachment meets customer requirements for increasingly long ranges. This is especially important during sniper missions, when visibility is poor.

Hensoldt also presents its new infrared attachments IRV 600 A1 and IRV 900 A1 at SHOT Show 2017. Both improve on the previously well-known and widely-used IRV 600 and IRV 900. This is true for size and functionality alike. They can be employed on assault rifles, light and medium machine guns, general-purpose machine guns (GPMG) as well as designated marksmen rifles.

The further developments of these optics build on the experience with the combat-proven IRV 600 as part of the German Soldier Moderinsation Programme IDZ-ES.
