Company Aims to Become International Overhaul Centre
Following certification from Airbus Helicopters authorising it to perform SUPER PUMA maintenance and overhaul in Brazil, Helibras has completed its first main transmission box overhaul for the type. The first client to benefit from the company’s newly authorized capability was a Brazilian Air Force aircraft: a second transmission box, from a French client, is undergoing overhaul currently.
The company’s aim is to become an international centre for overhaul and re-manufacture across the entire SUPER PUMA family. To date, such major work has only been possible at the Airbus plant in Marignane, France. The Helibras facility in Itajubá will now be able to conduct this kind of maintenance and enginnering work.
In total, Brazil operates 49 aircraft of the SUPER PUMA family, representing 7% of the worldwide fleet.
