Four Tactical UAS to be Procured Through NSPA
Greece has selected the Patroller UAS from Safran Electronics & Defence to upgrade its drone capabilities and supplement the Greek Army’s existing fleet of Sperwer platforms. The NATO Support & Procurement Agency (NSPA) has been tasked with the procurement of four aircraft.
The Patroller leverages over 30 years of company technological development in tactical drone systems, specialising in navigation systems, onboard electronics and optronics. Building on its extensive expertise, Safran develops advanced solutions for mission planning and execution, flight control, navigation, sensors, data links and integration into C4ISR architectures.
The Patroller features multiple sensors for intelligence missions and a number of innovative technologies that exploit expertise developed by Safran in the Sperwer programme, also
incorporating feedback from nine years of continuous deployment in Afghanistan. In February, Patroller became the first tactical drone system to be officially certified to STANAG 4671, applicable to fixed-wing drones weighing over 150kg – certification that is a vital prerequisite for protection and homeland security missions. The aircraft offers users versatility in a wide range of surveillance and monitoring missions.
