Company showcases enhanced connectivity

Motorola told MONS that it has updated its public safety, paramilitary and military tactical radios with a bluetooth interface that allows its radios to be remotely controlled from a Motorola smartphone. Officials from the company were speaking to MONS during the GPEC police equipment exhibition held in Frankfurt, 20-22 February.

This interface is now fitted as standard to all new Motorola radios in the law enforcement and military sectors. Its addition allows the radio to be controlled remotely from one of the company’s smartphones using a specific software application. This enables users to employ push-to-talk communications using their smartphone via the bluetooth interface. The asset here being that the user does not need to keep switching between their radio and their smartphone for communications. The company added that the bluetooth function has been rolled out across its public safety radios using both the TETRA and APCO-25 ultra high frequency (300 megahertz to three gigahertz) protocols.
