German Army FENNEKs to be Modified to JFST 1A3+ Status

€88 million to detrofit 30 vehicles 2018-2022 The Dutch Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO), responsible for the bilateral FENNEK programme, has ordered the modification of 30 FENNEK reconnaissance vehicles to Joint  Fire Support Team JFST 1A3+ status for the German Army on behalf of the German Federal Office of Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) Equipment (BAAINBw).

The contract includes retrofitting to the  latest configuration state in the versions: Forward Artillery Observer  and Forward Air Controller, as well as replacing obsolete component assemblies and corresponding software adjustments. The JFST consists of two vehicles, an artillery observer and a  forward air controller.

The total order value amounts to approx. €88 million. The FENNEK scout  cars will be retrofitted between 2018 and 2022 and then transferred back to the Bundeswehr. FENNEK JFST has extremely high-performance observation equipment and a  communication connection, which enables voice and data radio from joint services, in this case the air force and marines. The system’s tasks include battlefield monitoring, target acquisition and directing fire.
