New Contract Will be Primary Source of Army Cyber Innovation

The US Army Contracting Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, has awarded General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) a contract – known as R4 – to provide EW and cyber warfare capabilities to the Program Executive Office Intelligence, Electronic Warfare, and Sensors (PEO IEW&S), the company announced on 27 March. The contract, which will help the army modernise the manner in which it acquires new cyber capabilities, has a ceiling of $980 million over a ten-year period.

The company will deliver new cyber capabilities, in addition to upgrading existing cyber systems, along with training, documentation, and support activities. The contract will serve as the US Army’s primary source of cyber innovation and delivery.

GDMS will lead a nationwide team composed of cyber technology companies responsible for integrating technology from multiple technical domains to achieve desired cyber effects. Additionally, the company will deliver a broad range of integrated intelligence, electronic and cyber warfare capabilities to enable freedom of manoeuvre on the battlefield.
