$43 Million Contract Modification
General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has received a US Navy contract modification, valued at $43.2 million (€35.7 million) for work on the COLUMBIA- and DREADNOUGHT-class ballistic missile submarines to support development, production, and installation requirements, the company announced on 28 January.
The contract calls for delivery of fire control systems for the first COLUMBIA-class boat and the first King’s Bay training facility, plus installation support and pre-deployment planning for both US and UK sites. Also included are design and support activities across a range of installation and infrastructure issues.
“In November, we celebrated, with our Navy partner, 65 years of outstanding support to our nation’s strategic deterrent mission,” said Laura Hooks, VP for GDMS’ Strategic Systems business. “We are entering the next era of development and production for the Navy’s fire control system on the newest fleet of submarines that will extend this deterrent capability for another 65 years.”
