GDMS-Canada Wins HALIFAX-class ISS Contract

$182 Million Over Six Years to Support RCN Operational Readiness

General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada (GDMS-C) has been awarded a C$182 million (€117.4 million) six-year contract to support Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) operational readiness, the company announced on 6 November.

The company will provide In-Service Support (ISS) services for six combat systems on 12 HALIFAX-class vessels as well as to RCN Fleet Schools, Fleet Maintenance Facilities and the Naval Electronic Systems Test Ranges Atlantic and Pacific.

General Dynamics has a long and proud history of working closely with the Canadian Armed Forces and the Royal Canadian Navy – building on 30 years of support to the HALIFAX-class ships,” commented David Ibbetson, VP/General Manager of General Dynamics Mission Systems – International.

This ISS contract will help ensure the RCN’s HALIFAX-class Combat Systems (HCCS) Equipment Group – which largely includes radar systems – are ready for any mission. General Dynamics is also upgrading and maintaining underwater sensors on the vessels via the Underwater Warfare Suite Upgrade contract – further contributing to technologies that generate economic impact for Canada.
