Package includes Simulators, Training and Support
General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) has been awarded a contract by a Southeast Asian military customer for production and delivery of the latest variant of M3 Amphibious Bridge and Ferry System. Deliveries will include an integrated logistics support package consisting of a simulator system, training, special tools and manuals.
The M3 is used by many nations, including NATO members, in a wide variety of roles ranging from combat operations to disaster management and civil defence response missions. It can carry payloads of up to MLC85 tracked and MLC 132 wheeled vehicles, creating a 100m floating bridge in less than 10 minutes.
In 2016 German and British M3-equipped units built the longest M3 floating bridge across the Vistula river during Exercise “Anakonda.” At 350m, the feat impressed senior military observers, who fully appreciated the unique nature of the solution – the combination of bridging capacity with a ferry option.
