GATR Technologies completes delivery of SATCOM terminals to New Zealand
GATR Technologies, a subsiduary of Cubic Corp., recently told MONS that it has completed deliveries of ten of the company’s 2.4m (7.9ft) Satellite Communications (SATCOM) terminals to the Royal New Zealand Defence Force (RNZDF). The company continued that, alongside the deliveries already completed, the firm will provide SATCOM support for the next four years. The terminals are being delivered as part of the RNZDF Network Enabled Army (NEA) initiative. According to New Zealand Army literature, the NEA is a 12-year project that aims to overhaul the army’s command and control capabilities, alongside its intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance means.
The literature continues that SATCOM will assist the provision of a tactical level bearer network which will also include high capacity data rate radios, for which a procurement process is currently underway. The provision of the 2.4m SATCOM terminals forms part of the first tranche of the NEA programme, which also includes the acquisition of Systematic’s SitaWare battle management system, and command post infrastructure.
