Self-Deployment 2,500 Miles in Single Flight
The General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) MQ-9B SeaGuardian UAS featured prominently in the US Navy’s Group Sail exercise off Hawaii 12-17 April, conducting maritime ISR, ASW, long-range fires and battle damage assessment missions in support of two Carrier Strike Groups.
Additional missions, conducted in conjunction with a range of naval vessels and aircraft, included maritime domain awareness, surface warfare and information warfare serials. “We know the many successes of SeaGuardian during the USN’s RIMPAC 2022 exercise was a big reason the SeaGuardian was invited back to Hawaii to support Group Sail,” commented company President, David R Alexander.
The SeaGuardian also self-deployed from GA-ASI’s flight operations facility in El Mirage, CA to Marine Corps Base Hawaii, covering over 2,500 nautical miles in a single flight, demonstrating its significant expeditionary attributes. The aircraft self-deployed back to El Mirage following the exercise.
