Deal Part of VASSCO Programme
Thales has won a 10-year contract of unspecified value from the French defence ministry’s aeronautical maintenance directorate (DMAé), to provide through-life support for principal components of the nation’s air command and control system (SCCOA).
Under the deal, the company will be obliged to operate performance-based logistics support sustainment for SCCOA; manage and co-ordinate the 15 entities involved in SCOAA’s logistics support; and offer a full picture of the status of critical systems and planning for through-life support to ensure the system meets the French military’s operational requirements. VASSCO gives the defence ministry unified logistics management, and both optimised and data-driven logistics support.
“We will assume the responsibilities of [the] VASSCO programme prime contractor for the next 10 years and coordinate the entire ecosystem of government and industry partners and providers,” commented Christophe Salomon, Thales’ EVP for land and air systems. “VASSCO will guarantee higher performance of the components making up the French armed forces, which is a crucial part of France’s permanent air security presence.”
