Additional Project Integrates One-Man Turret to Existing AFVs
FNSS is supplying an unspecified number of Armoured Combat Earthmover (AACE) vehicles to the Philippines under a contract with the Department of National Defence that came into force in November. Delivery of the vehicles and the associated logistic support services is anticipated to be completed in March 2023. The vehicles will be manufactured at FNSS facilities and acceptance tests will take place in both countries, while training will take place in the Philippines.
The AACE – the world’s only combat engineering dozer vehicle with amphibious capability – has proven itself successfully with the Turkish armed forces and the Philippine Army contract represents the platform’s first export success.
The main objective for these vehicles, being procured as part of the Philippine Army’s modernisation programme, is to enhance the capabilities of its combat engineering battalions, providing them with a fully amphibious armoured combat engineering platform.
The contract is, in fact, the second to fall under the Turkish-Philippine Defence Industry Cooperation Agreement, the first having been the implementation of the FNSS One-Man Turret project. Under this latter project, turrets incorporating state-of-the-art fire control and day/night sighting systems will be manufactured in Turkey and integrated to existing vehicles in the Philippines by FNSS.
