Swedish Test Agency Venturing Outside Europe
FMV Test & Evaluation, a Swedish government agency focused on testing all kinds of military equipment, is using LAAD 2019 in Rio de Janeiro this week to show its capabilities to the Latin American market for the first time.
Jonas Lande, FMV’s Director of Marketing and Sales, explained that the organisation is approaching the Brazilian government to assist in expanding or developing their capacity to test the equipment and systems they are procuring under the GRIPEN programme. He also emphasised that the FMV facilities are available to all Latin American forces – not only for equipment purchased from Sweden, but from other European countries also.
For systems and equipment procured from European companies, FMV can conduct tests to ensure compliance to the appropriate standards. The customer advantage lies not only in the high quality of the tests and associated procedures, but the considerable savings to be made by not having to send testing teams and observer delegations to Europe. In some cases, FMV is able to send teams with mobile test equipment to customer-specified locations.
MONCh understands that FMV’s participation in the LAAD exhibition is one of the agency’s initial steps in a programme to increase its presence and offer its services outside Europe.
