Flexible, Rugged, Engineered for Extreme Environments
Fischer Connectors has added two new products to its flagship range of ultra-rugged, harsh environment connectors, the company revealed on 15 April.
The STANAG 4695-compatible UltiMate 80 offers superior functionality and ruggedness, compared with competing quick-release connectors, while the standard UltiMate is now available in size 15, with multiple pin layouts up to 27 signal and power contacts. Engineered in Switzerland, the former comes in two layouts (size 08, featuring 6 or 7 signal and power contacts) and offers an ultra-rugged, lightweight and IP68-sealed connectivity solution for any harsh environment, particularly for defence and security applications and soldier modernisation programmes. Its design is compliant with MIL-STD-810 and -202, providing high levels of environmental and mechanical performance and endurance.
Available as a pre-cabled plug and a pre-cabled and/or panel receptacle, the UltiMate 80 offers high resistance to corrosion (500h salt mist), up to 10,000 mating cycles for the plug/5,000 for the receptacle, random vibration 7.7 Grms, shock resistant (100 G), cable bending resistance (+/-90° for 5,000 cycles), temperature range of -55 to +135°C and triple key coding. The aluminium housing weighs just 2.7g and the connector is rated for IP68 sealing 2m/24h.
The size 15 UltiMate meets special power and high-speed data requirements for further design and technology developments with various layouts (2, 4, 8, 4+12 or 27 signal and power contacts).
These new connectors form part of the rugged, compact and lightweight Fischer UltiMate Series, used to ruggedise technology for field operations in extreme environments. Environmentally sealed to resist extreme shocks and vibrations, these durable, reliable connectors are ideal to interconnect devices, equipment, hubs and embedded electronic systems where weight matters, for example in defence and security, industrial, instrumentation, marine and robotic/unmanned systems applications. Their resin-sealed contact block offers extreme sealing (up to IP68/IP69 even unmated, gastight, CBRN decontamination), high shock and vibration resistance, as well as superior cable resistance in terms of traction.
