Test Campaign Aims at Completion Late 2018
Brazil’s future mid-range military transport aircraft, the Embraer KC-390, successfully conducted its first in-flight refueling mission in February.
Air Force and Embraer personnel tested function and ease of deployment for the Wing Air Refuelling Pod (WARP), located beneath the aircraft’s wings and housing the 30m refueling hose. Air Force F-5M fighters acted as receivers for the refueling mission.
The test campaign for the aircraft, which will total some 2,000 flight hours in development and certification tests, is set to end in late 2018. There are two prototypes currently flying and a third aircraft is nearing the end of construction.
