Fitting Out Continues; Delivery in 2018
Fincantieri launched the FEDERICO MARTINENGO frigate – the seventh of ten FREMM-class frigates on order for the Italian Navy – at its Riva Trigoso shipyard in Genoa on 4 March.
Fitting-out activities will continue at the Muggiano shipyard in La Spezia, with delivery to the Navy scheduled for early 2018.

FEDERICO MARTINENGO will have a length of ” vessel, like the other units, will feature a high degree of flexibility, capable of operating in all tactical situations. 144m, a beam of 19.7m and a full load displacement of 6,700t, featuring a maximum speed of over 27kts and a complement of 200.
Five FREMM frigates have already been delivered 2013-2016 and the Italian programme has now been fully authorised with the construction under way of the ninth and tenth vessels, due for delivery after 2020. Orizzonte Sistemi Navali (51% Fincantieri, 49% Leonardo) acts as prime contractor for Italy in Franco-Italian initiative, while Armaris (DCNS + Thales) is prime contractor for France.
