Rohde & Schwarz presented the M3SR Series4100 software-defined HF radio family for stationary and shipborne communications at FIDAE 2022. The HF wideband functionality (in line with MIL-STD-188-110D and STANAG 5069) speeds up HF data transmission to achieve data rates comparable to those attained with satcom. Shortwave communications constitute a resource that can be set up easily, offers extreme reliability and is highly valued by security authorities as well as military users.
The 4100 series offer a frequency range of 1.5-30MHz (TX) and 10kHz-30MHz (RX), with output power of 150, 500 or 1,000W, and a standalone receiver. There are also high-power classes available offering 5,000 and 10,000W. The family supports Link11, Link 22 and Link Y, as well as embedded secure voice and data capability.
The company also showcased the new HE400 handheld directional antenna for air traffic control (ATC) test and measurement. This equipment increases safety in critical conditions and helps to identify unauthorised or inaccurate navigation and communication signals, providing a high degree of situational awareness, which in turn improves overall safety. The system was designed for mobile applications but can be also used in a stationary mode. A recent innovation integrated the HE400 sensor with a UAS, to enable faster, simpler inspection capabilities at greater range.
