Exhibiting in the Pavilhão Brasil (Brazilian Pavilion) at FIDAE 2018 is Brazilian company IACIT – the only national company developing and manufacturing air navigation solutions in Brazil.
With a well-established track record for developing high tech products and services, and showcasing solutions developed 100% with Brazilian technology, IACIT has recently successfully certified its DME 0200 system, already in service at three Brazilian airports and is also in the process of manufacturing 33 systems for the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), to be installed along the nation’s eastern borders, ensuring coverage of that part of the frontier for DME navigation. DME employs a triangulation principle to determine aircraft positions with an acceptable accuracy level for performance-based navigation (PBN) in a terminal area (TMA).
The company has also developed two software solutions that operate alongside the Meteorology Network of Aeronautics Command, providing weather forecast support to air traffic operators. One of these, NeuralCAST, uses artificial neural networks to generate information on meteorological trends related to ceiling, visibility, the occurrence of wind gusts, and wind direction and speed, for a horizon of up to 3hrs, using data from airfield stations.
RouteCAST, on the other hand, identifies the volume or area of the air space affected by meteorological events that can present risk to en-route aircrafts, such as cumulonimbus clouds, allowing for monitoring of severe events and predicting their movement for a forecast of up to 30 minutes. The system employs meteorological radars and atmospheric electrical discharge sensors as sources. Both solutions apply the concepts of PBN and are already in operation in Brazil.
The Brazilian Pavilion at FIDAE 2018 is coordinated by the Brazilian Defence and Security Industries Association (ABIMDE) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Agency (Apex-Brasil).
