Farnborough International Airshow Expects Success

Stow your tray table and fasten your seatbelt, the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) will take off on 16 July with around more than 100,000 people expected over the week, where manufacturers, industry experts and members of international armed forces will gather to view the latest technologies.

Visitors can expect a large variety of entertainment over the course of the weekend with 600 exhibitions and retailers on show, 150 aircraft and hours of flying each day. From fighter jets, military transport aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to the latest digital technologies, MILITARY TECHNOLOGY #7/8-2018 features an exclusive focus on everything that keeps aircraft flying and pilots and soldiers out of harms way.

One of the more looked for exhibits on display at FIA18 will be Lockheed Martin’s F-35B LIGHTNING II fighter. Recently, four new F-35s arrived in the UK for the first time. The jets cost £92 million per unit and will be used by the recently reformed 617 Squadron nicknamed “The Dambusters.” In total, Whitehall plans to purchase 138 F-35 jets.

But it’s not all flying display. A large portion of FIA18 focuses on incorporating digital technologies into the aerospace market, addressing concepts such as big data, 3D printing, mobile and edge computing, augmented reality, machine learning and the internet of things (IoT).

For that reason MILITARY TECHNOLOGY #7/8-2018, available at FIA18, includes the following topics: Combat Aircraft Update, Annual Ballistic Missile Defence Update, New Franco-German next generation fighter, Air-to-Air /Air-to-Ground Weapon Developments, Airborne Ground Surveillance Aircraft Overview, Special Mission Aircraft Profile, a Spotlight on NORDEFCO and Ballistic Missile Defence Radar Overview.
