Air-to-surface Weapon System exhibited with two leading European fighter jet manufacturers

Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd.’s SPICE 250 air-to-surface missile is displayed on Saab’s GRIPEN and the Eurofighter TYPHOON at Farnborough International Airshow 2018.

SPICE 250 is the new addition to the SPICE family, already in service on F-15, F-16 of the Israeli Air Force (IAF), as well as with several other air forces worldwide. SPICE 250 has been integrated and tested on the Israeli Air Force F-16.

SPICE is capable of destroying targets with pinpoint accuracy and at high attack volumes in a GPS-denied environment. Combat-proven and in service with the Israeli Air Force and several international customers, SPICE employs a state-of-the-art electro-optical seeker with unique scene-matching algorithms, navigation guidance and homing techniques to achieve operational missions in adverse weather without GPS.

With its standoff range of 100km and its data link, SPICE 250 is capable of hitting stationary, relocatable and moving targets, on land and at sea. SPICE 250 uses the Data Link for in-flight updates of target position, Battle Damage Indication (BDI) and for mission-abort.

Rafael is under contract to supply SPICE 250 to the IAF and to international customers and, is being offered to GRIPEN users. SPICE 250 has been offered to the German Air Force for the EUROFIGHTER as part of Rafael’s partnership with Diehl.

The SPICE 250 weapon system is on display in booth OE14 on the Gripen and booth OE19/20 on the Eurofighter TYPHOON static display.
