FIA18: Gore Introduces New GORE-TEX PYRAD MTP Rainsuit

PYRAD & CHEMPAK at Airshow

W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. (Gore) showcases a wide selection of high-performance solutions at Farnborough International Airshow in hall 1, booth #1265.

Gore continues to innovate today and for tomorrow by combining dielectric expertise with unique fluoropolymer materials, proven in the real world and trusted for decades.

For armed forces, Gore is showcasing GORE Military Fabrics for clothing and footwear that offer durable, broad protection to improve mission effectiveness. Gore introduces the new GORE-TEX PYRAD MTP Rainsuit which provides durable waterproof, windproof, breathable and heat/flame protection.

Up to now, it has been difficult to combine lightweight weather protection with adequate heat and flame protection properties. The new GORE PYRAD Fabric Technology meets this challenge, giving even polyamides flame retardant attributes. When coming into contact with flames, the laminate forms a self-extinguishing stable barrier. This FR rainwear is low-bulk and easy to pack. Plus it meets all current buyer print specifications. And the colours will continue to remain fresh and lively.

GORE PYRAD fabric technology is built with a laminate that forms a stable char when exposed to heat and flame and protects the wearer. They are not only flame-retardant, but can also limit the effect of arc flashes. The protective gear needs to be water-resistant, light and breathable, to ensure that soldiers are comfortable wearing it even on warm days. So GORE PYRAD products are extremely lightweight, whether wet or dry.

Also featured is Gore’s lightweight Uniform Integrated Protective Ensemble (UIPE-1) made with GORE CHEMPAK Selectively Permeable Technology, which provides a combination of chemical/biological (CB) protection and reduced thermal burden.

This capability is suitable for operations where there is the potential need for uncompromised, pre-positioned, durable CB protection against a broad range of agents and toxic industrial chemicals.

Soldiers facing moderate to high activity rates in challenging environments and conditions will benefit from the reduced thermal burden of the UIPE I1 and unencumbered access to equipment and manoeuvrability.

Products made with GORE CHEMPAK selectively permeable fabric are certified to NFPA 1994, Class 3 for outstanding protection in warm zone operations. This lightweight protective fabric is also breathable, so perspiration vapour can escape, reducing heat stress. Currently used in extended response team (XRT) suits and versatile two-piece stretch undergarments, this fabric allows you to stay engaged longer and remain focused on your mission.

Benefits include breathable comfort for longer engagement; increases mobility from lightweight, low-bulk construction; provides additional protection against petroleum, oils and lubricants; and longer service life than traditional carbon suits, according to the company.
