New 2,800t Frigate Design also on Offer
Naval Vessels Lürssen (NVL) highlighted its C90 corvette and OPV 80-040 at Exponaval in Chile last week.
The 2.100t corvette has a total length of 90m, a beam of 13.5m and reaches a speed of 22 knots. With a 3,000mi range, it features both flight deck and helicopter hangar, with 76mm 35mm guns and surface-to-surface, surface-to-air and ASW weaponry. The 1,760t OPV 80-040 has a length of 80m, a 13m beam and a speed of 20 knots. With a 4,000mi range, it features a helicopter deck and a weapons suite that includes 57mm and 20mm guns and surface-to-surface missiles.
The company’s OPV range includes 80, 85 and 90m models and it also provides a range of corvettes, frigates, MCMV and fleet auxiliary vessels. “We build naval vessels equipped to prevail in high-intensity combat operations and also vessels optimised for surveillance and interception tasks against low-intensity threats,” a spokesperson for NVL Group observed.
NVL has participated in the Bremen-class (F122), Brandenburg-class (F123), Sachsen-class (F124) and Baden-Württemberg-class (F125) German Navy frigate programmes as well as the Argentine Navy’s MEKO 360 destroyer and MEKO 140 corvette programmes. Currently on offer is a 2,800t frigate design with appropriate equipment fits of anti-ship, anti-air or ASW tasks, or maritime surveillance and interdiction or task group command functionality. The proposed weapons fit is a 76mm or 127mm gun, Exocet MM-40, RBS-15 or NSM anti-ship weaponry and Mica anti-aircraft missiles.
