EXPONAVAL 2018: Naval Group Offers Technology Transfer

SCORPENE and GOWIND Feature in Demonstrations

Naval Group is showcasing its breadth of experience in naval shipbuilding for both surface and underwater vessels, as well as its willingness to transfer technology in its presence at EXPONAVAL 2018 this week.

The SCORPENE submarine is capable of conducting all kinds of missions, such as anti-surface ship or antisubmarine warfare, long-range attack, special operations or intelligence gathering. “Naval Group has had a relationship with the Chilean Navy since the 1990s with the construction of the first two SCORPENE submarines and that has meant a permanent relationship over the years. We are also present in Brazil with the project for four SCORPENE submarines, with technology transfer and development of a new fully equipped naval base,” explained the company’s Senior Business Development Manager Submarines, Anthony Covarrubias.

The GOWIND corvette combines Naval Group’s latest technological advances into a single class. It offers the operational assets of a frigate and integrates the latest generation of combat systems (SETIS), the Intelligence Module and the Panoramic Sensors (PSIM) system, a combination of integrated mast with various sensors and the operations centre.

Further innovations are introduced with the OPV 90: the ship’s surveillance capabilities are based on a single mast architecture and a 140sqm bridge that offers panoramic visibility, with a dome above the closed mast housing the complete sensor suite. From the bridge, the observation officers have a 360° view from the ship’s hull to the horizon. The compact top leaves ample space for a 5-10t class helicopter or UAV.

The MISTRAL-class LHD is a multipurpose power and force projection vessel designed for command and special amphibious joint operations, as well as humanitarian and disaster assistance operations with the highest level of efficiency.

We attach importance to EXPONAVAL 2018 because we have a close relationship with the Chilean Navy and it is also important to show our products in Latin America. We will be present in everything that involves renewal of surface and submarine units that Chile operates. Our great added value is the ability to develop a local naval industry and all our capacity for technology transfer,” Naval Group affirmed.
