Agile Extended Range System With Wide Range of Options

Safran offered visitors to its booth at Expodefensa in Bogotá this week sight of HAMMER [Highly Agile Modular Munition Extended Range] – a new, modular, air-to-ground weapon family with extended stand-off capability and a very high level of precision.

The system consists of a frontal guidance kit and a rear-mounted range extension kit, integrated with a ‘dumb’ bomb that can be modified to suit specific missions with the integration of different guidance systems, different bomb payloads and even the addition of a booster to enhance the range – all achieved in all weather conditions.

The basic variant features inertial navigation system/GPS guidance, which can be easily augmented with infrared homing or laser guidance to increase accuracy.  Due to its modular design, HAMMER offers mission-specific guidance possibilities, allowing it to be used against targets of opportunity, mobile targets or precision strikes in urban environments.
