Ground-based ISR and VTOL UAS also on Show
At Expodefensa in Bogotá this week Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) will display a number of its relevant, advanced systems, including the BARAK air and missile defence system, VTOL capabilities, and the DRONE GUARD counter-UAS solution.
BARAK MX is one of the world’s most advanced operational air defence systems, in service with IDF naval forces and the Indian armed forces, among others. It provides both wide-area and targeted defence capabilities against an array of threats, and aggregates several cutting-edge systems, including digital radar, weapon control system, launchers, and a range of interceptors for different ranges with advanced homing devices, data-link communication and system wide connectivity.
IAI is also a leader in border protection and intelligence. the GRANITE ISR vehicle – a family of modular, mobile, day and night-capable assets, can operate in rough terrain and all weather conditions, detecting, identifying and tracking targets in areas of interest and creating a real-time situational awareness picture.
The company will display its VTOL capabilities in Bogotá, including the WanderB UAS, developed by subsidiary company BlueBird Systems for covert, extended-range, real-time ISR missions. Earlier this year, the company delivered over 100 UAS to a European customer – the largest delivery for UAS to date.
And to counter UAS, IAI is renowned for developments in the field, including the DRONE GUARD solution, which can handle hundreds of targets simultaneously and provides a solution to multiple evolving threats. The system’s advantage derives from the multi-layer implementation concept, using a high-resolution 3D X-band radar – a key capability for drone-detection – integrated COMINT ESM, multi-channel jamming and high resolution EO/IR with integrated AI capabilities. DRONE GUARD offers a comprehensive solution for fixed installations and manoeuvre forces.
