Aerostats Fulfil a Wide Range of Surveillance Missions
RT LTA Systems Ltd will showcase its SkyStar family of aerostats during EXPODEFENSA 2019 in Bogota, Colombia, the company announced earlier this week.
Several SkyStar 180s are currently deployed by the municipal police in Santiago, Chile, during the nationwide anti-government protests that involve more than one million people. The systems are ideal for border control and homeland security (HLS) missions, as they offer availability of over 85% in any given area and provide persistent surveillance and communication over long periods of time at minimal cost. They are deployed by multiple forces around the world for such purposes.
RT’s SkyStar family of aerostats includes the SkyStar 110, 120, 180 and 330. SkyStar is a self-contained, versatile, easily transportable, cost-effective tactical system consisting of a ground control station, a ground system module, a tether, a lighter-than-air platform, a stabilised payload platform and a sensor suite. The family has already achieved more than 2 million operational hours worldwide. In Israel, the SkyStar aerostats are constantly deployed at the Gaza border.
“Offering availability of over 85% in any given area, RT’s SkyStar aerostats provide a complete set of solutions for border control, defence, HLS, public safety and camp protection. No other defence solution, manned or unmanned, is as cost-effective as aerostats, and that is what makes them an ideal mean for securing and protecting wide and long areas, such as borders. SkyStar is one of the worlds’ most popular aerostats, with more than 100 systems sold and operated worldwide in military and civilian missions,” said RT CEO, Rami Shmueli.
