Inflatable Decoys Featuring Thermal, IR and Radar Signatures

At EXPODEFENSA this week Milgroup SAS, the Colombian arm of Milgroup USA, is showing inflatable decoy systems intended for training or deception operations.

Featuring embedded thermal, IR and radar signatures, the decoys can be used in a variety of deception operations, aimed at fooling hostile recognition systems into believing they are targets worthy of expending valuable munitions or other resources on, thus maintaining operational security for friendly forces. They can also be used as advanced training aids for tactical exercises.

Two inflatable decoys were displayed in the outdoors area at the show: an SH-60 BLACK HAWK helicopter and an M1 ABRAMS main battle tank. They have previously been evaluated at various facilities by the Colombian armed forces, demonstrating their effectiveness when located by unmanned aircraft.
