Expodefensa 2019: Everis Shows MIURA Developments

New Guidance Kit Incorporates Inertial and Satellite Navigation

The Spanish Everis Aerospace, Defence and Security Group is showcasing a precision guidance kit for artillery rockets at EXPODEFENSA 2019 this week.

The internally funded development takes the former MIURA system and uses an autonomous guidance system developed from the work of the group company Embention to offer a high-precision, low-cost guidance system for 122-160mm artillery rockets – although the example on show at EXPODEFENSA is a 140mm caliber MC-25 munition. The system combines an inertial guidance system with satellite navigation capabilities.

The segment visible on the Everis booth, 79cm long and weighing 19kg, is mounted on the front of the rocket and includes a guidance system that uses four fins or canards with which it achieves a probable circular error (CEP) of 10m, keeping the original range almost intact.

The kit has already been tested at the Spanish National Institute of Aerospace Technology (INTA) and is of interest to users of rocket-based artillery systems in Latin America and the Middle East, offering a reduced cost compared to other options.
