Tactical Naval Mission System for SUPER COUGAR Helicopters
During EXPONAVAL 2018 in Valparaíso this week, Atech – an Embraer company – has been showcasing the Naval Tactical Data Management System (N-TDMS) it has developed for the H225M/H-XBR SUPER COUGAR helicopters in Brazilian Navy service.
The N-TDMS is responsible for managing the information obtained by the aircraft’s sensors and compiling the corresponding tactical framework in order to assist the operator and the pilots in their decision-making processes. N-TDMS will also integrate sensor data with the helicopter’s AM39 EXOCET weapon system.
The H-XBR N-TDMS programme began in 2012, a partnership between Airbus Defence & Space and Atech. The Brazilian company was co-responsible for the development of the N-TDMS software, as well as being entirely responsible for development of the sensor and weapon simulation models and for conducting system evaluation tests.
The company also conducted the design, development and assembly process for the tactical console installed on the aircraft. Programme compliance required Atech to create a dedicated laboratory for serial production. After delivery of the aircraft to the Brazilian Navy, Atech will continue to be involved with N-TDMS technical support and maintenance.
“With the completed N-TDMS, Atech consolidates its position as an experienced supplier in the development of tactical systems shipped to the Brazilian armed forces,” commented Atech’s Business Director, Giacomo Staniscia.
In addition to H-XBR, the company is involved in the following programmes: the F-X2 GRIPEN NG fighter; the P-3BR maritime surveillance aircraft; and the E99 airborne surveillance aircraft. Its participation involves the development of combat systems, mission execution support, simulation and training, the construction of tactical consoles and technology transfer programmes.
