A New Generation of Plastic Explosive
Already in service with eight NATO nations and a similar number of international customers, EXPAL’s PG-3 plastic explosive, introduced in 2011, represents a new generation in terms of capability and performance, according to the Company.
Used in munitions demilitarisation, cutting and drilling operations, PG-3 offers users reduced shock sensitivity, self-adhesive properties that simplify its operational use in the field and new capabilities in the underwater domain.
“We asked the user what they wanted in a plastic explosive, developed it and delivered it”, declared Juan Rosillo, Plastic Energetics Program Manager at EXPAL. “After listening to our customers, we decided to change the colour to become less visible in the operational theatre, we increased its power, its self-adhesive properties, decreased the sensitivity, and dramatically improved the performance of the material after long periods of submersion in water.”
