Air Launched Weapons Expertise Leveraged
BAE Systems and EXPAL have signed a contract under which the Spanish company will support development of an enhanced air-launched weapons capability for the Eurofighter TYPHOON aircraft.
“This integration forms part of the Phase 3 Enhancements Package B, which has been contracted to further evolve TYPHOON. We are excited to further increase the capability on TYPHOON alongside EXPAL, using their experience in air-launched weapons,” Paul Wilde, BAE Systems’ P3Eb Contract Delivery Manager, stated.
EXPAL’s contribution to the project will involve engineering support for the integration of a variety of standard weapons with MK 80 series warheads. The two companies have been working together for some time and EXPAL has described this opportunity of working closer together as “an added value” to the company, reinforcing the vast portfolio of ammunition products and services for which it has an established reputation and fuleling its ambition to consolidate further its expertise in airborne systems.
