Exotrail Electric Propulsion for TRITON-X Heavy

High Thrust System Paves Way for Future Large Constellations

Satellite manufacturer OHB Luxspace has contracted French space company Exotrail for further integration of the ExoMG-cluster2 – a configuration of the company’s high-thrust, flexible electric propulsion solution – into the TRITON-X Heavy platform.

OHB is developing a next-generation microsatellite platfom under ESA’s Advanced Research in Telecommunications Systems (ARTES) programme, aimed at enabling affordable regional and global low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellations.

This first contract paves the way of future large constellation deployments for which in-space mobility and manoeuvrability become a critical requirement,” commented Exotrail Chief Commercfial Officer, Sébastien Duménil.

ExoMG, and its nano, micro and cluster product configurations, is a space-proven Hall-Effect electric propulsion system for satellites ranging from 10-300kg, which drastically improves satellite deployment, increases service performances and contributes to reduce space pollution. It has already been selected by commercial and institutional customers in Europe, Asia and North America, including CNES, AAC Clyde Space, ESA, and York Space Systems, among others: ExoMG-cluster2 is a system configuration baselined on three different microsat platforms for both LEO and cislunar missions.
