Robust, Agile, Lightweight Vehicle Based on Douro/Eagle Technology
General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) will premiere its latest light tactical vehicle (LTV) – the 4×4 Merlin – at Eurosatory next week.
Designed with the operational requirements of airborne, special and light infantry forces in mind, Merlin is based on the same engineering principles as the combat-proven Eagle, which sets the standard in its class, according to the company. Extremely durable, compact, light and robust, Merlin offers superior multi-role and payload potential to its users. Able to accommodate 10 troops, it will nonetheless fit inside CH-47 and CH-53 helicopters.
The unique driveline and suspension technology is a derivative of GDELS’ proven, in-service Duro/Eagle 4×4 chassis, resulting in significant savings in operator/maintenance training and maximising commonality for tools and spares. The modern diesel provides superior agility, manoeuvrability and cross-country mobility, and the flexibility and versatility in vehicle body design mean it can be configured in multiple variants for personnel transport, ambulance, logistic and combat missions.
