Crystal Clear View in Harsh Operating Conditions

Aselsan has unveiled the next generation MEROPS [Multi-spectral Extended Range Optical Sight] surveillance and targeting gimbal at Eurosatory. The company states it has developed the system to provide significantly enhanced capabilities in air surveillance and targeting for drones and other airborne platforms.

“MEROPS’ design philosophy focuses on the real-world requirements of the armed forces under the combat situations. So, users can easily achieve a ‘crystal clear view’ with the MEROPS under all possible viewing conditions,” stated Prof Dr Haluk Görgün– Chairman, President and CEO.

The system maintains capability in conditions of smoke and dust, prioritizing medium and short-wave thermal observation to support dawn and dusk operations. This make the MEROPS targeting sight an operational asset with enhanced performance in adverse conditions. Furthermore, the sight also incorporates the latest in image processing technologies including traditional image enhancement and the latest in machine vision and AI-based algorithms, as well as mission enhancement capabilities such as moving target identification, isotherms, false color identification and threat identification.
